Sportmart opens two stores in Chicago area with a complete paintball store department

Sportmart, a division of Gart Sports Company , the largest full-line sporting goods retailer in the Western United States has opened two stores in the Chicago area, one in Matteson, IL and one in Bolingbrook, IL. These new stores bring the total number of Sportmart stores in the Chicago area to 19.

Both stores feature a running shop, an extreme shop (bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, and paintball) and will offer the best equipment for golf, softball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, football, fishing, hunting, camping, tennis, skiing, snowboarding, in-line skating, water sports, and back yard games. Sportmart also offers a wide range and variety of brand name apparel and footwear for men, women and youth including performance apparel for men and women.

The Matteson, IL store is approximately 38,000 square feet and the Bolingbrook store is approximately 44,000 square feet. Grand Opening activities include athlete appearances, product sampling, product giveaways and register to win opportunities for the Chicago Cubs vs. New York Yankees games on June 7th & 8th or one of 500 pairs of tickets to a Chicago Cubs game in September.

“Chicago has been a very successful market for us. With the addition of the Matteson and Bolingbrook stores, we have the opportunity to expand our business and better serve our Chicago customers,” said Doug Morton, president and CEO of Gart Sports Company. “Our growth strategy is on target to open 15 stores for 2003.”
