|
October 30, 2003 By: Adam Boyd New indoor paintball field opensCalifornia's newest indoor paintball arena has just opened its spectacular new field to the public. With 13,000 square feet of one-inch thick AstroTurf, brilliant high intensity lighting, and high strength safety netting, the playing floor is securely enclosed by 300 degrees of tempered glass for unobstructed spectator enjoyment. As the first venue to bring the excitement and speed of arena-style paintball to northern Los Angles County, the Proving Grounds offers a clean, safe, well lit, and player-friendly atmosphere. Amenities include tournament level rental equipment, air-filled inflatable bunkers, 3000/4500psi self-fill stations, air conditioning, a pro shop, continuous DJ style music and a concession stand. This new field will be home to the "Speed League USA," a paintball league specially designed to strengthen team dynamics among the members of businesses, police and fire departments, high schools, and junior high schools. The Proving Grounds hosts its first five-person team Paintball Tournament on January 18 with rookie, novice and open-class divisions. Entry is only $100 per team, paintballs not included. Then from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 19, there will be a professional scrimmage between two National Professional Paintball League championship teams, Bob Long's Ironmen and the Avalanche. Spectator admission is free.
